I had the pleasure of being invited to Morrison Hotel and Gallery this past Wednesday for the Canon’s “Second Shot” performance featuring The Postelles. It was my first time being to the recently renamed Morrison Gallery, which was the former site of the legendary CBGBs. One thing that stood out to me immediately was seeing the various pictures of famous acts on the walls. Pictures of U2, Bruce Springsteen, a young Keith Richards, and one particular photo from 1984 of Run-DMC in Hollis, Queens stood out to me, near and dear to my heart being from Queens myself. The Second Shot concept is a cool marketing idea by Canon, they take individuals who have taken trips, and excursions to events that are memorable to them, and photographed them, to only have their memories ruined by bad photography from inferior cameras. One example of this is a couple who went to Barcelona, Spain and took a variety of pictures only to come home and find that all the pictures were blurry. This event was a Second Shot chance for a member of the audience who didn’t get to take right pictures of one of their favorites acts the first go around.
To learn more about Canon’s Second Shot events, and their new camera line go to Your2shot. I would like to personally thank Canon who included a wonderful Canon Powershot SD4500IS in their gift bag. I would like to personally thank Melle, Janet, and Jennifer for inviting me to such a fun event.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of viewing Wall Street II: Money Never Sleeps (pal) at a private screening. It was held in a room with about 25 seats. I remember watching the first film every weekend before I started my week off as an intern at Def Jam (’99). A return to the life of Gordon Gekko who’s Oscar winning portrayal by Michael Douglas is revisited with a new catchphrase of the legality of greed in a new recession based economic climate delivered to us by Oliver Stone in his new film “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.“ If the appeal of the original film to you, was the inner workings and machinations of the financial fat cats of the 80s, the way they maneuver today in a world of hedge funds and energy futures will definitely keep you entertained in this film.
